Umami Express Japanese And Korean Food Takeout And Catering

We didn't expect to find such amazing Japanese food in St. Catharines, but will definitely be back whenever we visit. We're especially looking forward to trying some of the Korean dishes next. We dined in for lunch and had a great time exploring the goods for sale while we waited a short time for our meal. The playlist was great, all the decorations were cute, and there is a lot of take-home stuff we'd consider buying if we lived in town. The Japanese curry was delicious and it was great to find slices of carrot and potato mixed in with the meat. If you're not a fan of curry, but haven't tried Japanese curry, give it a chance, it's great. The Kimchi mayo guidon had a generous portion of meat and the sauce was great. It's not your typical mayo and works well with the meat in the dish. The service was fantastic and the prices were amazing considering the taste and portion size.

I had passed Umami Express many times and I am SO happy that I finally had a moment to stop there last week (I have since ordered takeout again)! The portions are big, the food is delicious. The two people I spoke to there were both kind and friendly. The food was made quickly, and I loved looking at all their decorations as I waited. The woman working that day made great recommendations to me. This is absolutely a hidden gem for people visiting St. Catharines (and locals too)!

I came to Umami Express the other day with my baby for lunch. The restaurant is so clean and charming and the owner is absolutely delightful. I loved everything I ordered and I also bought some beautiful home made candy the owner had made! I would definitely recommend!!

Lovely cozy place with lots of Japanese and Korean dishes/items to choose from! Love the Sukiyaki don I ordered!! Absolutely worth a visit if you are in the area!

I got nothing bad at all to say about this plsce. Tonight was my first time here bought chopsticks from Osaka Japan for a very good price. The food top of the line everything super fresh and tastes absolutely amazing 100% coming bsck. Staff are super helpful and nice

The food was great. It feels like I'm in Japan. Japanese owner chef and his Korean wife are so nice. I tried Gyu-don. It was amazing. They serve Okonomiyaki! It might be the only one in Niagara region. I would go back again.

Wow! It was our first time trying Umami Express, but it definitely will not be our last. We ordered the tteokbokki udon, vegetable curry rice, tonjiru, and gyudon. I appreciate that there are vegan, vegetarian and pescetarian options. The tteokbokki udon was outstanding. The tteok was soft and chewy, and the portion was quite substantial. The spice level is very approachable for anyone who isn't extremely adverse to spice. The gyudon and tonjiru were also a big hit. They were comforting and hearty. The curry rice is savoury, mild and addictive. We can't wait to try other menu options! Edited after dessert to add: the Dojima (chocolate and matcha) are perfect! So soft and creamy, not too sweet. Also recommend the sparkling Korean soda.
